WHAT IS A HEAT PUMP DRYER?
A heat pump dryer sends air through an evaporator to remove the moisture without losing too much heat, so it uses less electricity to generate heat, than regular clothes dryers. There are stackable, and all-in-on (washer plus dryer) units to choose from, and a few only require a standard 120-volt electric outlet, rather than a (three- or four-prong) 240-volt outlet.

HEAT PUMP DRYER ADVANTAGES
- Easy to install since they don’t require ventilation
- Can be installed anywhere there’s a power and water source
- Can reduce energy use by at least 28% compared to standard dryers
- Dries laundry at low temperatures, so they are gentler on clothes
ENERGY STAR Cooking Appliances
ENERGY STAR certified electric cooking products are 18% more efficient, on average, compared to standard models. They are better for your home indoor air quality than burning natural gas or propane, which produces air pollutants. You can use your in-store coupon to purchase ENERGY STAR Cooktops, Ranges, Stoves, or Oven at participating retailers. These appliances can have either radiant or induction cooktops. Appliances must be installed. Portable cooktops do not qualify for this program.
How Does Induction Cooking Work?
Induction cooktops and ranges use electromagnetic energy to heat up ferromagnetic cookware internally, making the heating process faster and much more efficient than conventional models. Induction heats up the cookware, not the cooking surface. 85% of heating energy is transferred to the food in the cookware, so the kitchen stays cooler while you’re cooking. You have to use compatible cookware, including cast iron, stainless steel, and enameled cast iron pots and pans.
*HEAR funds cannot be used towards the purchase of pots and pans.
Use high-quality cookware +
For best results, use high-quality, heavy gauge cookware. Pans with layers of steel and aluminum that extend up the sides conduct thermal energy more efficiently.
Avoid aluminum
Pans made of aluminum and anodized aluminum won’t work on induction cooktops.
Test your cookware
To see if your existing cookware works with an induction cooktop, place a magnet on the bottom of the pan. If it sticks, the pan is ferromagnetic and can be used for induction cooking.
Induction-compatible cookware
Use cookware made of ferromagnetic metals like cast iron, stainless steel, or enameled steel. You can also look for cookware that’s marked “induction-compatible” or has an “induction compatible” symbol on the bottom that looks like a coil of wire.
Need Installation Help?
While many retailers provide delivery and installation services, the cost of these services are NOT covered by the ECAM rebate. In addition, retailers will not install appliances that involve a fuel switch (needs gas capping) or need new wiring or outlets. You can use our FIND A CONTRACTOR tool to select an authorized contractor that provides gas capping of natural gas or propane lines or electrical services. Don’t attempt to do these things yourself! Additional installation incentives, of up to $200 for gas capping, and up to $2500 for electric wiring or up to $4,000 for a new electric service panel load upgrade are available when completed by an authorized contractor.
